We use the information we gather carrying out this work to campaign for social justice, so that individuals do not suffer through a lack of knowledge or an inability to express themselves effectively.
As the impact of the recession continues to bite, we provide an increasingly vital front-line service for those in the greatest need in our local community.
The benefits of our work are not limited to improving our clients’ financial situation but also contribute to improving their health, reducing their stress and improving their confidence in dealing with their own problems.
Citizens Advice Bracknell & District is an independent, voluntary organisation and is a registered charity (No. 1065672). We have been assisting local people with their problems since 1961. Our services are FREE, INDEPENDENT, CONFIDENTIAL and IMPARTIAL. We provide comprehensive advice to help people with a variety of problems, including benefits, work, debt and money, consumer, relationships, housing, discrimination, law and rights, tax, healthcare and education. We also offer specialist help in the areas of benefits, debt, employment and tax, including help with disability benefit applications, benefit appeals, Debt Relief Orders and Employment Tribunals.
The quality of our advice is ensured by the national Citizens Advice service, which is a separate charity. Our services are audited and as a result we have been awarded the Advice Quality Standard by the Advice Services Alliance. We work with several other organisations to make our service more effective, by referrals to give specialised assistance, and also in cooperation to influence policymakers.
As well as providing advice to individual clients to help them with their problems, we also carry out campaign work to lobby for changes in policies and services. Much of this work is done in association with the national Citizens Advice service. Our campaign successes improve the lives of many people who may never have used the services of a Citizens Advice.
